What is a Dental Emergency?
We understand that emergencies can happen at any time in Toronto. We are here to try and help.
Are you unsure if you have a dental emergency in Toronto? These are common dental emergencies that should be treated as soon as possible.
- Lost Fillings or Crowns
Identify and locate any missing or broken fillings or crowns in. Rinse it off and try to reattach it to your tooth. Please contact our office in Toronto as soon as possible to schedule a repair appointment.
- Chipped or Broken Teeth
Do you have a chipped or broken tooth in Toronto? Place the missing tooth in a clean container and bring it to your appointment if you can find it. Your dentist may be able to reattach it. Whether you find the piece or not, contact our office in Liberty Village as soon as possible to have it repaired.
- Knocked-Out Teeth
If you experience a knocked-out tooth in Toronto, try to find it, pick it up by the crown rather than the root, rinse it and try to reinsert it into your tooth socket. Bite down gently to hold it in place as you make your way to our dental office.
If you cannot reinsert the tooth, put it in a glass of milk or keep it in your mouth until you get to our office in Liberty Village, and do your best to keep it moist.
If you're bleeding, take an over-the-counter pain reliever, but not aspirin. To relieve pain and swelling, place a cold compress against your cheek near the fractured tooth.
As soon as possible, come to one of our Toronto offices. Call ahead if you are able. The sooner your tooth is treated after it has been knocked out, the better your dentist's chances of saving it are.
- Severe Swelling, Pain or Discomfort
Have you noticed that the areas around your mouth, neck, or face have begun to swell moderately to severely? Do you have a lot of pain or discomfort in your mouth or around it?
Call us as soon as possible and follow these steps to alleviate pain in the meantime:
1. Apply a cold compress to your cheek, on the area where you are feeling pain.
2. Take an over-the-counter pain medication.
3. Use salt water to flush the area that is in pain. This will help remove any debris that could be causing the toothache.
Our dentist should examine the condition or swelling in Toronto to determine the cause and develop an effective treatment plan.
